DESCRIPTION

Your tenant may require some sort of official confirmation from you regarding their tenancy.  Often the lease document acts as proof of tenancy.  But in case your tenant is on a month-to-month arrangement, or requires a confirmation of tenancy after or during their transition or move out, you can use this template letter form and just fill in the relevant details. There’s nothing really special about this letter in that there’ s no value judgement or description of the nature of the tenancy.  It is intentionally vague on whether this was a positive or negative tenancy.  This is a good form to have in case of getting an awkward reference request from a tenant who wasn’t that great.  It saves face without being dishonest.

Note: For really good tenants, we recommend the Reference Letter form available here.

Why Do I Need This?

  • As a landlord you may be asked by the tenant, other landlords, or outside agencies or employers to confirm the tenancy details

  • This letter form is intentionally vague and only lists the specific honest details concerning the tenancy without being negative

  • In an increasingly litigious environment, this letter allows you to accommodate tenant requests safely without exposing libel risks
