DESCRIPTION
A common complaint is excessive noise that disrupts the enjoyment of other tenants and/or neighbours. The most effective way of handling noise complains is to make your tenant aware that you have received complaints and that the offending noise is affecting others. This warning is worded in a firm manner but stops short of antagonizing the tenant. After all, the landlord-tenant relationship is a partnership and you must always try to present yourself as being on the same ‘team/side’ as your tenant. Noise issues do not resolve themselves. If it happens once, it’ll happen again. Whether it’s a party, loud music, domestic issues, bedroom shenanigans, or renovations, you need to address this with the tenant immediately. Be sure to consult your local bylaws and add their reference into the letter.
Why Do I Need This?
Noise Issues only get worse with time if not dealt with. Complacency is costly
Lets tenant know that the noise is an issue and asks for consideration on their part
Refers to laws that govern noise disturbance and potential consequences if warning goes unheeded
