Any time there’s some sort of transition in the landlord-tenant relationship, you need to be aware of it.  But even more importantly, you need something down in writing from your tenant especially when ‘moving out’ is concerned.  Verbal notice or the assumption that a tenant will just move at the end of their lease or term is not reliable and will almost definitely open the door to confusion, frustration, misinterpretations, and added expense. The best way to make sure your tenants’ intention is completely clear and with a valid commitment is via a Moving Notice declaration form.  This form is worded in a clear, concise manner than makes it abundantly clear what the tenant’s responsibilities are and what they’ve committed to in terms of a binding move-out date.
