DESCRIPTION
There’s little success in resolving issues or getting clarity on a situation from a tenant if you have no way of reaching him or her. We’ve personally seen tenants changing cell phone numbers, emails, and other contact information every year (or even more frequently!). Having recent contact information on file is critical in advance of any future issues that may need to be resolved. If your future issue is a conflict issue, you may have a lot of trouble securing updated contact info at that time. It’s best to get this information while the relationship is positive and tension-free (which hopefully will also remain that way throughout the term!). Finally, in case of emergency, you will need to contact your tenant’s emergency contact. This could be for health, safety, or tenancy/financially related reasons. People’s emergency contacts change often as well, so it’s important to always have relevant and recent information on file. This is one of our favourite forms we call a “headache-saver” for obvious reasons. You won’t care much that you have it most of the time. But for those times you’ll need it, you’ll be thrilled you have it.
Why Do I Need This?
In case of an emergency, you’ll have the tenant’s most updated information and can quickly reach your tenant’s contacts
Having up-to-date information on file is useful in cases of disuptes, rent arrears, or other issues that require you to contact your tenant
Demonstrates an understanding of your responsibility to your tenants and good file-keeping (especially if you’re an out-of-area landlord)
